Double Life

My buddy had a job where he had to spend every second week in New York City. Due to this, he maintained an apartment there as well as a house in our neighborhood. For his first year working there, he had the company of a girlfriend in the two cities. Unbelievably, he decided, for reasons only known to him, to ask both ladies to marry him.

Over the span of a year, he found himself engaged to not one, but two women. After 12 months, a job promotion meant he no longer had the obligation to divide his time between two different cities. Choosing to end his commitment, he broke off the engagement with the lady back in New York and put his apartment on the market. Rather ingeniously, he presented the other woman, still his fiancé, with the engagement ring he had previously given his New York lover. I really can't quite figure out how he managed all this, but he's just the kind of person who always seems to have things flow in his favor.

Slip and Fall

"When I was a little one, around 5-6 years old, I had trouble sleeping. To help me, my great uncle, who was always there for me, would take me out for late night walks. At that moment, my Great Uncle, who stood tall at 6ft2, denied him any cash. In a swift action, he lurched forward and butted his forehead against this man. Unfortunately, the man slipped on the icy pavement, his skull made a fatal collision with it, and he passed away. Quickly, my Great Uncle grasped my hand and began to hustle me home. He advised me to keep our secret tucked away, whispering "not to tell anyone incase of him being thrown into prison."

I put a dent in the front bumper of the car, a mishap that I blamed on some unknown person while it was parked on the street. The s--- totally soaked right in, but I did the best I could to scrub the fabric seats clean, and until now, the only people aware of this are just you and me.

The Beef
